The bathroom is one of the rooms in the house where using toxic cleaning products often seems justified. However, it’s good to know that there are natural ways to clean bathroom that are just as effective, non-toxic, and extremely cheap. But most importantly, they are gentle on your health. Let’s get to the natural ways to clean the entire bathroom on a budget.

9 Natural Ways to Clean Bathroom and Cheap

1. Natural Bathroom Cleaners for Surfaces

Combine 2 tablespoons of washing soda, 2 tablespoons of salt, some liquid soap, and a bit of lemon juice. Mix the salt and baking soda with the soap until you get a creamy paste. Add the lemon juice at the end for a fresh scent. Apply the mixture to a sponge and scrub the dirty bathroom surfaces well. This simple cleaning recipe can even eliminate the yellow stains in the bathtub or sink.

If you don’t have washing soda around, you can use baking soda instead. Make a paste with baking soda, some water, and 1 tsp each of salt and lemon juice. Use this natural paste to clean your bathtub, sink, and faucets, then rinse well. Stubborn stains can be scrubbed off with half a lemon. For persistent stains, use turpentine and rinse well with warm water and a bit of shampoo.

2. Natural Limestone Remover

Dissolve 2-3 tablespoons of citric acid into a liter of water to make a natural limescale solution. Put the ingredients in an earthenware container and stir until the citric acid dissolves, then spray it on the limescale. Rinse well. Do not use this solution on marble or synthetic materials.

For limescale marks on faucets, use a mixture of 25 g of salt and 150 ml of white vinegar, or gently rub them with a soft cloth soaked in vinegar. Chrome faucets can be cleaned perfectly with a cloth dabbed in toothpaste or by rubbing them with a lemon cut in half.

When limescale builds up on the showerhead, it can also form inside and block the water flow. Unscrew the showerhead and soak it in pure vinegar. The limescale deposits will dissolve. If the shower holes are clogged, use a needle to remove the limescale. Scrub with an old toothbrush and rinse well with clean water.

3. Natural Drain Clog Remover

Make a solution from 3 tablespoons of washing soda, 1 cup of hot water, and 1/2 cup of vinegar. This natural drain clog remover dissolves the substances that clog the drains and prevents new deposits. Dissolve the washing soda in hot water and pour it into the clogged drains. Then, pour in the vinegar. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then rinse with hot water.

4. Natural Dirty Clogs and Faucets Cleaner

For grime on drain outlets, use a mixture of one teaspoon of salt mixed and one teaspoon of lemon juice. Scrub with a brush until all the dirt is removed. This is one of the simplest and cheapest ways to clean bathroom faucets.

5. How to Clean Enameled Bathtubs

First, wash your enamel bathtub thoroughly with warm soapy water, then rinse with cold water and allow to dry. To save soap, pour a cup of chalk powder over a little water, mix it with a bit of borax powder, and scrub the tub well with a soft cloth. The dirt and soap deposits will dissolve immediately. Rinse with water. To remove dirt from an enameled tub, you can also add a few drops of natural shampoo to your bathwater as it drains, scrub with a sponge, and then rinse well.

6. Natural Shower Curtains Mold Solution

Plastic shower curtains can easily get dirty with soap scum mixed with grease and can oftentimes even develop mold spots. To remove shower curtain mold naturally, simply soak the moldy area in a mix of water and two large cups of vinegar in a wash basin. Let them soak overnight, then wash them with warm water and a little detergent or natural soap by hand. Rinse and dry them, if possible, in the sun. Regularly cleaning the shower curtain with white vinegar will make dirt buildup much less likely.
